Bio

Saint Samuel has been an artist from Richmond, VA, since January 2021. Sam McCoig (Saint Samuel) played under a few bands and his own name for about ten years leading up to the release of Saint Samuel. After taking a break from performing and releasing music, Sam realized he wasn’t making music that felt true to him. His influences evolved, and so did he. What he loved most—music—needed to reflect that.

After building up his previous artist project, Sam McCoig, for six years, he reinvented himself: new name, new sound, new image (and new hair). Thus, Saint Samuel was born. The name, slightly ironic, reflects the contrast between image and reality—something he explores in his song “Such a Saint.”

Sam writes, produces, and works behind the scenes on nearly everything he puts out. What began as a budget hack has become his passion: production, music video direction, and creative control. It’s where he lives—creating, singing, performing. It’s his livelihood.
